(Natural News) Board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Allan M. Josephson was terminated from the University of Louisville because he spoke out about the dangers of using puberty-blocking drugs and cross-sex hormones on children with gender dysphoria. Josephson’s views are not shared by the LGBT community; therefore, he became their target. American universities strive to be politically correct at all times, catering to the demands of the LGBT agenda. They believe that if children want to identify with the opposite gender, then they should automatically be given hormones and surgeries to stunt their biological gender and mask their appearance.

When parents and role models encourage a child to identify with the gender that is opposite of their biology, they are committing psychological abuse against that child. When medical professionals go along with the abuse and prescribe puberty-blocking drugs and cross-sex hormones to further deconstruct the child’s biological gender, the abuse becomes physiological, with long term emotional implications.

Not only do these synthetic hormones cause biological harm, but they also cause permanent changes to the adolescent’s behavior and self perception. When a child is allowed to commit themselves to a medical regime for a gender change, the choice is cemented into the child’s psyche. Once their identity has been decided and endorsed, their hormones synthetically manipulated — the adolescent is trapped into expressing this persona for life. As their innate biology struggles to express itself over time, the adolescent may become further confused, depressed, and potentially suicidal.

Psychiatrist is terminated for speaking out about the psychological abuse of children through gender reassignment

Right now Dr. Josephson is suing the University of Louisville because the university punished him for his speech at the Heritage Foundation. Not only did the university leaders discriminate his right to free speech, but they also violated his due process rights by firing him in this manner. By ousting Josephson for his views on childhood gender reassignment, the university has simultaneously sponsored psychological abuse of children and emboldened thought control at the university.

“Universities are supposed to be a marketplace of ideas, but the University of Louisville is turning itself into an assembly line of one thought,” said Travis Barham, senior counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the law firm representing the professor. “Dr. Josephson has had a long and distinguished career at the University of Louisville, leading and rebuilding its child psychiatry program. Public universities have no business demoting or firing professors simply because they hold a different view than their colleagues or the administration, but that’s exactly what’s happened here.”

In the 2016 case Carcano v. McCrory, Dr. Josephson testified that biological gender cannot be muted, for it is objective, binary, and based on genetic facts. He said that gender identity, on the other hand, is a social construct determined by one’s perception of self. Dr. Josephson said that pro-transgender parents “abdicate their responsibilities” if they permit children to “decide for themselves” key life decisions.

A licensed psychiatrist in four states, Josephson has been featured in 42 scholarly journals. In 2003, he became chief of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Louisville. Josephson opposes medical attempts to affirm transgender identity because they can inflict permanent social, medical and psychiatric consequences that might not be experienced until adulthood.

Josephson believes that children confused about their gender “should receive individual therapy to understand the factors that fuel their desire to become a member of the opposite sex and attempt to resolve any conflicts.” For example, a girl who grows up playing in the mud with the boys may feel the need to be like the boys as she gets older. This feeling does not mean she should be inundated with synthetic hormones to affirm these feelings. Likewise, a boy who grows up with an abusive father may want to detach from this abusive male stereotype. This feeling does not mean he should be dressed up in girl’s clothing, dosed up with estrogen, and castrated.

Dr. Josephson vs. the LGBT thought control police

Dr. Josephson contends that children should receive “empathic guidance in aligning their feelings with their biological sex, which may take some time, rather than exclusively and quickly being affirmed in the belief that they were born in the ‘wrong body.'”

After hearing Josephson’s views at the Heritage Foundation, the staff at the University Of Louisville LGBT Center began complaining to colleagues that Josephson’s positions were hostile toward gender dysphoria patients. Former executive director at the LGBT Center, Brain Buford mischaracterized Josephson’s position. “Dr. Josephson has recently given speeches and taken part in other activities in which he refutes the existence of transgender identity,” Buford postured. In November 2017, Dr. Josephson was demoted for not conforming to their views. By February 2019, the university fired him.

Now Dr. Josephson is asking for a declaratory judgment against the university’s actions, declaring that the university imposed an unconstitutional condition for his employment, while violating his rights to due process and equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment.
