The Alexander Technique: Presentation by Gary Adelman; Thursday, July 18 at 1 p.m.: Learn how to improve posture, reduce pain, de-stress, look and feel better and younger with certified Alexander technique teacher, Gary Adelman. Gary has had a private practice in Alexander technique for over 25 years. He has studied the technique in Boston and Tel Aviv and taught its methods for a year at Princeton University. Family Magic Show & Tell: Performance & Magic Lesson by Evan Kirsh; Saturday, July 20 at 3 p.m.: Have you ever seen a magician at a party or on TV? Are you interested in witnessing the impossible right in front of your eyes? Evan Kirsh is a 20 year old magician who performs for audiences of all ages. A student at the University of Virginia, Evan started performing magic at the age of 7. Adults and children alike are amazed at his feats of mentalism, card tricks, and stage magic. He makes sure to have audience members frequently star in the show, providing an exciting, hands-on experience for all. Registration required. All ages welcome. Online registration required.

Understanding Alzheimer’s & Dementia – Sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association; Tuesday, July 23 at 1 p.m.: Alzheimer’s is not a regular part of aging. It’s a disease of the brain that causes problems with memory, thinking, and behavior. Join to learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, disease stages and risk factors, current research and treatments available to address symptoms, and Alzheimer’s Associations resources. Everything you need to know about downloading the library’s digital resources; Thursday, July 11 from 2 to 3 p.m.:Having problems setting up or downloading movies, eBooks or audiobooks on your smartphones or iPad? The Bryant Library is here to help. Bring your own charged device and they will help you to get started. This class will cover iPhones and iPad. Online registration required.

Learn a Language with Transparent Language; Thursday, July 25 from 2 to 3 p.m.: Learn any language using Bryant Library’s online database: Transparent Languages. In this class, the library will walk you through setting up an account and start learning any language of your choice. Library card, pin number and headphones needed for this class. Online registration required.

Play with friends and put your skills to the test at the Super Smash Bros Tournament. Feel free to bring your own Switch and controllers. Online registration required.

Escape the Library: Space Edition: Saturday, July 13, 1 to 2 p.m.; Grades 6-12; Location: The B.R.A.I.N. (Valentine House): Escape the Library is a fun, interactive game taking place right here at your library. You will have 60 minutes to find hidden objects, figure out clues, and solve puzzles to escape the library. Online registration required.

BRAINstormers Volunteer Meetings: Tuesday, July 16, 4 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, August 13 from 4 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 4 to 5 p.m.; Grades 6-12; Location: The B.R.A.I.N. (Valentine House): Are you interested in volunteering at our makerspace, The B.R.A.I.N.? Join us to test out our makerspace materials and BRAINstorm program ideas. You will receive an hour of community service for each meeting you attend. Online registration required. Please register for each meeting separately.

Tinkercad Workshop: Wednesday, July 17, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.; Grades 6-12; Location: The B.R.A.I.N. (Valentine House): Learn how to use Tinkercad, an easy browser-based 3D design and modeling tool, to create 3D models that you can print on a 3D printer. Online registration required. Note: Please bring a USB flash drive. No prior knowledge necessary.

Shark Fin Cake Pops: Monday, July 22, 7 to 8 p.m.; Grades 6-12; Location: Helen Glannon Room: Shark week is just around the corner. Join the library to make three shark fin cake pops and take them home in a bakery box. Online registration required.

Children’s Department

6 to 12 months: Baby Time: Tuesdays, July 9, 16, 23, 30; 11 to 11:30 a.m.: Come play with your baby and make new friends at the library. Parent or guardian must accompany the child. Walk in, no registration required, as space permits.

12 to 17 months: Giggles & Wiggles: Mondays, July 8, 15, 22, 29; 10 to 10:30 a.m.: Fun with music, fingerplays, toys, & simple stories while developing early literacy skills. Parent or guardian must accompany the child. Child must be 12 months by July 1. Register once for all classes in series. Online registration began June 17 for Bryant Library cardholders, others may register the day before program begins if space permits.

13 to 24 months: Toy Time: Tuesdays, July 9, 16, 23, 30; 10 to 10:30 a.m.: Join the library for playtime to meet and play with other children in the playroom. Parent or guardian must accompany the child. Walk in, no registration required, as space permits.

18 to 23 months: Little Listeners: Mondays, July 8, 15, 22, 29; 11 to 11:30 a.m.: Enjoy a half hour of stories, songs and fingerplays. Parent or caregiver must accompany the child. Child must be 18 months by July 1. Register once for all classes in the series. Online registration began June 17 for Bryant Library cardholders, others may register the day before program begins if space permits.

2 to 3-and-a-half years: Toddler Story Craft: Wednesdays, July 10, 17, 24, 31; 4 to 4:30 p.m.: Stories, songs, and a craft activity for you and your toddler to do together. Register once for all classes in the series. Online registration began June 19 for Bryant Library cardholders, others may register the day before program begins if space permits.

3-and-a-half to 5 years: Preschool Storytime: Mondays, July 8, 15, 22, 29; 4 to 4:30 p.m.: Join the library for stories, songs, and more fun activities. Intended for children who are able to separate from their caregivers. Please visit the library before the program so that your child will be comfortable going to the Storytime Room on his or her own. Register once for all classes in series. Online registration began June 17 for Bryant Library cardholders, others may register the day before program begins if space permits.

5 to 10 years: Legomania: All Fridays in July & August; 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Construct your own creation with Legos in the Children’s Room. Build with basic bricks or try one of the special sets. No registration required.
